Local importer Viviano Wines wanted to create a website that would serve their consumers and distributors as well as their own internal employees, but that would also be easy to manage. Beyond that, they put out a quarterly Winespeak Newsletter and wanted the last few years backlogged and available on the website. Finally, they wanted the ability to upload wine "shelf talkers" that licensors, distributors and retailers could have easy access to download and use. Sour grapes? Hardly.

My Monday night karaoke plans got off to a rough start. After a lovely dinner with my friend (sorry spinning teacher- it was pasta!) I chilled at my apartment, killing time until 11. I thought I could hit up McSorley's, which I've actually never been to, for a drink and pre-game. I was supposed to go with a friend, but he bailed cause had to work at the last minute so I thought I could go by myself. And my favorite Solas bartender also works there. But to my chagrin, they only had beer. Am I the only person who didn't realize that? And despite it being a Monday night at 11pm, it was super crowded. I guess some people actually get off for Veteran's Day.
So I had my two beers, played with my iPhone pretending to look like I was waiting for someone. Then went home and downloaded various other iPhone applications in anticipation of being bored at the next bar. Around 12:30, I arrived at Solas. It was also fairly crowded on a Monday night. After a few drinks, I managed to do a fantastic rendition of Lauryn Hills "Can't Take My Eyes Off You." Not the easiest song to sing but I got into it. Didn't appreciate the guys behind me trying to grind up on me while I was singing. But I guess they did have a few words of encouragement and were quite enamored.
After my song, I fell into a conversation with a tall, somewhat handsome guy. Not sure how we started talking and god knows why we were talking about the things we were. In any case, he works for the state department, and long story short- tried to convince me that the Jews controlled all the money in the US. That they are mostly to blame for the financial crisis. That they are disproportionally represented in the Senate. I reminded him that as a Jewthuran, he needed to look at things from all perspectives. He said he tells his Jewish friends the same things and they somewhat agree with him. I tried to convince him that there isn't a secret network of Jews. Maybe there is.. But that rather, Jews have historically lived in the New York area and perhaps went into finance by proximity. Industry close to home.
Then we got into the Middle East and Israel. And basically agreed how insanely hard foreign politics were. And that it's hard to find a neutral ground when supporting Israel. And why we have ties to them, perhaps related to money. You get the point. It was heavy and I was fairly convinced that this guy was anti-Semitic, working for our government. Kind of scary.
To end on a brighter note, my two favorite Solas bartenders sang the last song and did a fantastic job. They sang Elton John's "Don't Let the Sun Go Down On Me" which ironically, I had on my list but didn't get around to requesting. Also managed to miss my "Hit Me Baby One More Time" cause I was busy talking defending Jews. Dang. But over all. Freakin Awesome! Got home at 4am.

The first controllers were made of whatever was available to the scientists in their electronics labs and the games were equally simple. Highly simplified versions of sporting activities such as table tennis, shooting galleries and space shooters. With the creation of the gamepad games became more complicated. Games didn’t have to be simple concepts, although the gameplay was still limited by the computing power of the era. 2D platform games took players on long journeys with them in control of simple movement of their characters. With 3D came the analogue stick, providing players with a way to guide their characters around their new 3D environment. The latest consoles let players perform the actions that they want their characters to perform and they can become part of the game more than ever before.
()
Finally there is the purely functional purpose of the PC control schemes. Whilst reflecting little on the actual actions taken in the game, the simple control schemes can become second nature to players, to give them a feeling of immersion on par with the best novelty controller. Despite this it can be seen that there has been minimal development on new types of games on the PC, these control schemes work, and so these games are the only ones that will be played.

As a young girl I was never much into sports but I enjoyed watching them. The games I used to play before were not really major sports activities. They were just local games young adults play. Although I love watching games such as soccer, baseball, basketball, volleyball, tennis, softball and other sports I never really could find the guts to play them. The one thing I loved before was running. I loved to run but I didn't play any games on that. I never really thought I can participate in any sports so a few years ago, we had this company tournament from my work before and they asked us what game we would like to play. I didn't pay much attention to that since I thought I will just play whatever game everyone have agreed to play.
That time we were provided with sports materials for table tennis and bowling. I tried my hand on table tennis, but I could not really play it well. Since it was agreed that the tournament will be on bowling, I decided to play a few tries just to see how I'm going to fare with it. Much to my surprise I seem to hit it good. I never did know I could play bowling hehee. I was always so scared to try any games before so I didn't try much on any of them. But since we were required to participate and to play so I decided to play. I ended up winning the top individual prize for bowling and it still tickles me when I remember it since I never thought I can win the prize for that haha. Although now, i'm not sure if I can still play it well because It's been awhile that I had not played the game. But since I enjoyed bowling I decided to browse online for sports clips on it and I found this fun online sports video of the game. If you want to watch the bowling sports clip, just click the video clip. And if you want to watch more sports videos you can check out SportsVids website. You can watch and upload your favorite sports videos there too. So check out the site and enjoy.

Tony Harp picked off a Marcus Johnson pass from the endzone and returned it to the Wildcats' 40-yard line with four seconds left in the half.
Malone went in the shotgun with trips left, a receiver to his right and Bernard beside him.
All four receivers went deep, but instead Malone dumped a screen pass to Bernard who changed field and nearly scored before being dragged down at the nine-yard line by the Tigers' prevent defense.
Head coach Chris Thomsen and the Wildcats will be heading into the locker room with a comfortable 31-7 lead. Despite gaining 261 yards in the first half, the Wildcats don't appear to be firing on all cylinders offensively. I would actually say that's a compliment that you gain 261 yards of offense in a half, and don't appear to be on top of your game.
Scott's latest reception pushes him to 116 yards receiving marking the second time in his career that he's accomplished that feat with last home game against Texas A M-Commerce Sept. 13. That gives him two-straight home games with 100 yards receiving. He already has 80 yards rushing, so he'll need just 20 to have triple digits in both categories.
Malone is on fire again at 11 of 15 for 197 yards and two touchdown passes to Scott.

Tennis tactics what do you mean?
Well, tennis is a game of adjustments. That’s what makes it such a beautiful game. Tennis is like a game of Chess, every player have the same resources to use but it’s not the resources that you have it’s how you use them. In Chess it’s all about the checkmate, you plan and you attack and you surround to win. Also you try to get to the toughest arsenal first and eliminate it I.E “ The Queen”. Same thing in tennis your goal is to break down the opponents strength. After a player loses his / her arsenal and stays with only a few then the chances of winning / Checkmate has just gotten a lot better. So how do we apply this to tennis? Finding your opponents weaknesses usually is a nice way to eliminate his arsenal pretty quick. Once you find his / her weakness then you can start punishing your opponent and at that point you really have put a checkmate on his / her game. Agassi used to apply two methods A- Was to break down the opponents strength first, once he achieves that then its downhill from there. B- He would pick on his weak shot and hit about 80-90% of the shots to that side. If your opponents strength is really over the top you might want to stick to attacking his weak part of his game.
How cool is it to play someone new every time and have to figure out this about their game.

Nobody in tennis is better than Andy Murray at playing a patient game, but the 21-year-old Scot had to endure the most agonising wait of his life last night. Playing the first Grand Slam semi-final of his career, he was leading Rafael Nadal, the world No 1, 6-2 7-6 2-3 here at the US Open when the tropical storm that had been threatening to bring a premature end to proceedings finally arrived.
Within 10 minutes torrential rain was falling and within 40 minutes play for the day was abandoned. Murray and Nadal will resume at 4pm (9pm BST) today and the final has been rescheduled for 5pm (10pm BST) tomorrow. The women's final between Serena Williams and Jelena Jankovic will be at 9pm tonight (2am BST tomorrow).
When the players left the court shortly before 3pm, Nadal looked much the happier and turned to acknowledge the cheers of the crowd. Although the Spaniard was a break up in the third set, he had been comprehensively outplayed and must have welcomed the chance to regroup and rethink his game plan.
Murray looked less than amused. If he were to lose this match he would have every reason to feel aggrieved with the tournament organisers and CBS, who pay $35m (nearly 20m) a year for the television rights and have a major say in the order of play. The rain had been forecast, yet no move was made to start both semi-finals at the same time on different courts.
Nadal and Murray were due to follow Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic in Arthur Ashe Stadium in a session beginning at 11am. Their semi-final was finally switched to Louis Armstrong Stadium, the second show court, but did not start until 12.37.
Federer had time to complete a 6-3 5-7 7-5 6-2 victory over Djokovic in two hours and 45 minutes, but Murray and Nadal had just two hours on court. Jim Curley, the tournament director, said he had expected to have playable weather for another two hours. To add to Murray's potential displeasure, the remainder of the match will be played in Arthur Ashe Stadium, while the mid-afternoon start ensures that the winner will have significantly less time to prepare for the final than Federer.
It is to be hoped that Murray stays in a positive frame of mind after his outstanding performance in the first two sets. The British No 1 had lost all five of his previous matches against Nadal and had not won a set in the last four, but on this occasion he dominated from the start.
He played a typically clever game, teasing mistakes out of his opponent as Nadal struggled to cope with the Scot's changes of pace. Gently sliced backhands were followed by ground strokes hammered cross-court or down the line, with Murray's backhand, driven two-handed with formidable racket-head speed, a particularly potent weapon.
Nadal looked physically weary and mentally stale, finally paying the price, perhaps, for the demands of a summer in which he has become world No 1 and won the French Open and Wimbledon titles and Olympic gold.
Murray could hardly have played the first set more convincingly. Looking confident from the start, he put Nadal under constant pressure but played a waiting game, forcing the Spaniard into errors or manoeuvring him into a situation where he could go for a winner.
Having broken in the third game thanks largely to Nadal's mistakes, Murray did so again four games later through his own aggression. At 40-30, Nadal was surprised by Murray's sudden acceleration of pace on the backhand. A big forehand winner down the line created break point after which the Scot chased down a tired volley to hit a forehand winner down the line. Murray served out for the set, coming in behind a second serve to force Nadal into netting his backhand return on the final point.
Murray had chances to break early in the second set and was rarely troubled on his own serve as it went to a tie-break, in which he was a mini-break up at 3-2 but then served a double fault. Thereafter it went with serve until Nadal, serving at 5-6, carelessly put a cross-court backhand wide.
Nadal converted his first break point in the opening game of the third set when Murray put a half-volley long. Murray trailed 0-30 in what proved to be the final game of the day but responded admirably, holding serve with two successive aces.
In the other semi-final, there was no doubt who the crowd wanted to win, Djokovic having alienated the New York public with his criticisms of Andy Roddick following their quarter-final 48 hours earlier.
Federer (left) is hugely popular here and will now try to become the first player since Bill Tilden in 1924 to win the title five times in a row. It would also be huge consolation after what has been a comparatively disappointing year for the 27-year-old Swiss, who has lost his Australian Open and Wimbledon crowns and his world No 1 ranking. Djokovic, who lost to Federer in the final here 12 months ago but beat him on the way to his first Grand Slam title in Melbourne in January, would have replaced him as worldNo 2 had he won the title here, but was outplayed.
For periods Federer looked back to his absolute best. Serving beautifully, the Swiss found his rhythm immediately and won the first set in just 24 minutes, with Djokovic winning only four points against serve.
A loose service game at 5-6 cost Federer the second set but he was soon back on track, making the vital break in the third set at 5-5 and quickly taking command of the fourth. He secured victory in emphatic style, thumping a big inside-out forehand winner down the line and celebrating with a leap into the air and a roar of delight.
If Murray reaches the final he could hardly face a stiffer challenge, but the Scot is one of the few players in the game with a positive head-to-head record against Federer, having won two of their three meetings. For the moment, however, his only focus will be on beating Nadal.
Interesting.

It is an introduction of tennis with puts of colours and excitements to the people unaware of the game so as to create a sense of interest to support them to accept tennis for the life long.
In order to generate agility, balance and coordination which is the primary skills to play the game of tennis. Mini Tennis is just an introduction so as to help young people develop these skills while having fun. Mini Tennis involve a little training session for those who are interested in the game. There are various exercises involved in the training that help kids to develop a sense of team spirit .
Based on the age of the player, the courses has been divided into three categories which is accepted globally. These are Red course, Orange course and Green course. Each of the three courses are explained in details in the following paragraphs.
Red Courses: This course is specially designed for the beginners which include the children of the age group of 4 to 7 years. Once it is completed, kids are now ready for the next level. There is no time bounds for the tasks to be completed.
In each of the stage, level 3 is the easiest which could be achieved in 1 or 2 sets of courses very easily. Level 1 and 2 are tough and takes longer time to go through.

Great Britain will face Ukraine at home in Europe/Africa Zone Group I of the Davis Cup next year. Britain were included among the seeded nations for yesterday's draw in Madrid, giving them a bye past the first round of ties to be staged in March.
They will face the Ukraine, ranked 41 in the world, on 8-10 May in the hope of moving towards an immediate return to the elite level of the competition. Britain were relegated from the World Group on Sunday following a 3-2 defeat by Austria at Wimbledon.
World No 4 Andy Murray, won both his matches but the team's lack of depth was exposed with Alex Bogdanovic losing two rubbers, including the decider against Alexander Peya.
The doubles pairing of Jamie Murray and Ross Hutchins also came up short as Britain crashed to an embarrassing defeat which sees them slip to 24th in the world rankings.
The result has increased pressure on team captain John Lloyd, who drew criticism for his decision not to select Andy Murray to play in Saturday's doubles.
Disappointing attendance figures throughout the tie and team morale have also been questioned. The challenge facing Lloyd is to convince Andy Murray, who reached the final of the US Open earlier this month, to continue playing for Britain.

So I wanted to take this video plus blog entry experiment to examine both a game that has been on a lot of peoples minds for the past two months (a game that I respect and enjoy greatly) and a review of that game that has turned into a meme over the past weekend. Braid, a downloadable game by indie developer Jon Blow and only a few collaborators made over the course of two painful years at great personal expense, justifies for many critics the first marketable art video game (at least for consoles). Opinions seem split between critics hailing it as the most remarkable achievement by a single game designer (note that they did the same thing last year with Everyday Shooter), the “mature” gamers who agree with these critics, and “immature” gamers who find the game boring, inane, or at least generally overhyped. The mechanic at the center of this disagreement is Braids time reversal: is it innovative, is it a knock-off, is it worth talking about? Enter Soulja Boy Tellem stage left – way out of left field. In the course of two minutes Soulja Boy explains that the game is for “people who are fucked up on drugs or alcohol,” that it is “Mario in the future with a business suit and orange hair,” and that it is “stupid as hell” because “the go-back-in-time potion” never runs out. Meanwhile, he and his friends marvel and hoot at the visual effect and consequences of the time reversal. Critics have responded in predictable fashion, either by blowing the review off as simple YouTube comedy material or by becoming incredibly offended by Soulja Boys audacity in trivializing their job in general, their expert opinion of Braid in particular, and the game itself. What I want to assert is that Soulja Boys review shows us some important things about key qualities of Blows design in Braid and the narrative functions and mechanics of games as a whole.
The Values@Play Grow-a-Game kit emphasizes cooperative game development through discussion around games that present nebulous values such as “cooperation,” “justice,” and “style.” Braids main values in this context can be seen as “humility” and “forgiveness.” Blows concept for the time-reversal mechanic is that players shouldnt be punished for making mistakes. In order to back this benevolence up, Blow has allowed players to reverse time -for up to 30 minutes-. This is an incredible achievement in data storage for such a modest downloadable title. With this decision Blow has completely bypassed considerations of resource management and economy described by Greg Costikyans I Have No Words I Must Design (GDR 10). That covers forgiveness: this is the most infinitely forgiving game ever made (except for the particular levels designed to highlight this concept by denying forgiveness, the “Irreversible” stage in particular). In class I described humility as a game mechanic by describing situations in which the player must realize that they cannot win the game by their skill alone. Examples include bosses that cannot be beaten without the “deus ex machina” intervention of helper NPCs or games that manipulate pacing by introducing new mechanics that force players to completely rethink their methods (a stealth level in the middle of a run-and-gun shooter game). The platforming in Braid has been designed to be virtually impossible without recourse to the time-reversing skill. This is what, against what many users who claim that Braids time-reversal is not new because weve seen similar effects in Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, makes Blows primary mechanic truly unique – it is backed up by a solid understanding and explication of the values of humility and forgiveness.
Henry Jenkins in Game Design as Narrative Architecture (GDR 34) explains that games can be seen as designed spaces of “narrative architecture” that allow players to create stories through their decisions, ideas, and actions. Here is where I find Braid lacking. Soulja Boy exposes a possible weakness in Braids narrative space, because he shows that the games story (except for the final stage, which he does not cover) can only be understood if the player chooses to stop and read the books that begin each stage. These books tell a story of a man (Tim) who has lost his great love, the Princess, and who after maturing has decided to find her again and win back her love. Lengthy passages describe a rich mix of feelings: from self-reliance, longing, regret, and mental/physical isolation. The games title comes from a past moment that the narrator remembers well: when hed said something hurtful to the Princess, and as she spun away from him he felt the lash of her braid against his cheek. The narrative of this game so totally complements the time-reversal game mechanic that it will bring any contemplative gamer to shivers and shudders. Tim wishes that it were possible to reverse time, after learning from ones mistakes or missteps in a relationship, and to go on with this new knowledge in order to be a better lover. Mateas and Stern, in Interaction and Narrative (GDR 29), discuss the relationship between agency and immersion. Braid allows for a feeling of agency because one really gets the feeling of unlocking a mystery and exploring Tims psyche through ones play. The time-reversal mechanic also makes the world feel largely malleable to the players wishes. Immersion deals with being able to accept the logic of a games world even if this logic differs from that of the real world. Braid takes this one step further by contemplating the consequences of what one might be able to achieve in life if the time-reversal logic of the game world could be carried into real life. The problem with all this design perfection is that a casual or hurried gamer will not encounter any of this narrative explication if they dont stop to read the optional books that begin each level. If one asserts that interpretive richness, rather than narrative space, matters most when analyzing video games, then the logical conclusion to this is that one must accept Soulja Boys judgment of the game as equal to any expert critics.
In film studies one learns that movies should not tell past information about characters or events through text (intertitles, opening scrolling text a la Star Wars), because the cinemas unique artistic propensity is in showing action in real time. The same can be said of video games: it should be considered an aesthetic crime, unless limited by technology, to confine a games narrative to text. Richard Bartles essay, Why Players Suit MUDs (GDR 61), elucidates the fact that games should be designed to be playable for multiple users. For MUDs we can break this concept down into the types: achiever, killer, explorer, and socializer. Ill return to how Braid satisfies this open play identity construction later, but first I was to address the fact that Braid essentially fails to open itself up to enough different types of gamers. Only the “mature” or studied gamer will take the time to read and think about the narrative. One can debate whether or not it is important for an art game to appeal to an audience of any given size other than those who eat it up intellectually or emotionally. Do we want to make games that are only experienced “fully” by one type of gamer, while everyone else only has recourse to the fun of dropping down into a hole and then reversing time to escape death? One possible argument to this is that Braid can be enjoyed solely as a platformer, but Blow himself has commented numerous times that the platforming skills required to play his game are minimal and hollow when considered without the story he is trying to craft. To his credit, Blow does incorporate enough vagueness into the exact meaning of the story to allow multiple interpretations (see Braid/Manhattan Project explications on any gamer blog). This is to say that his narrative architecture certainly has legs, and he does create multiple “worlds” in which different time/space mechanics operate to explore the varying thought patterns of his protagonist Tim. Also, within the sub-class of gamers Im calling “mature,” the game does allow for explorers, achievers, and hardcore platformers. In order to unlock the full story one must search out puzzle pieces (explorers), the Xbox Arcade format supports an achievement structure that shows ones accomplishments to the Xbox community (achievers), and hardcore platformers can post their speed runs of the game on public leaderboards and YouTube (also supported in the achievement structure).
Message to professional game critics: make your writing more enjoyable to read and you wont be shown up by a teenaged rapper; consider objections to your blanket acceptance of a games design choices so you wont be caught off guard when a large body of gamers arent connecting with a game on the same cognitive/emotional level as you. Art doesnt have to be enjoyed by everone; what Ive tried to show are reasons why some people (Soulja Boy included) might not have enjoyed Braid (other than that they are or ).

Last week a federal district judge in D.C. held that the Library of Congress unlawfully discriminated against Diane Schroer when it rescinded the job offer made to her prior to learning of her plans to transition from male to female. The ACLU attorneys who represented Schroer advanced and prevailed on two theories to explain why she should win under Title VII, the federal statute that prohibits employment discrimination on the basis of sex (among other categories, but not gender or gender identity). First, invoking Price Waterhouse v. Hopkins, in which the Supreme Court held that discrimination on the basis of gender nonconformity constitutes sex discrimination (at least in some cases), they argued that the Library's decision was unlawfully motivated by Schroer's failure to conform with stereotypical male appearance and behavior. Second, they argued that discrimination against Schroer because of her (trans)gender identity directly constitutes discrimination on the basis of sex.
The judge's decision to agree with the ACLU's first argument is good news because it joins and many courts that have read Price Waterhouse broadly to prohibit employers from requiring employees to conform with sex stereotypes, in contrast to some courts that have read it narrowly to prohibit employers from doing so only when the employee's compliance would also result in a negative consequence on the employee. (Adopting this reasoning, a court could hold that Schroer could not recover on a sex stereotyping theory because no negative employment consequence would have befallen her if she had decided to continue to present as David). The more decisions that adopt a broad view of Price Waterhouse, the easier it will be for plaintiffs to argue that those who invoke the narrow reading are outliers.
The court's decision to agree with the ACLU's sex theory is great news because it is the first time a court has held that discrimination against transgender employees is sex discrimination per se. The court used a helpful analogy to explain why this is so. Take an employer who doesn't discriminate against either Christians or Jews, but is biased against religious converts and fires an employee from converting from one to the other. Surely this is discrimination "on the basis of religion." Similarly, the court reasoned, an employer who hires men and women on equal terms, but won't hire a person who is or has transitioned from one sex to the other is discrimination on the basis of sex.
What implications might this decision have for Title IX plaintiffs? Title VII cases are often invoked by courts deciding Title IX issues, so Title IX plaintiffs might invoke the Schroer case to support arguments in support of gender nonconforming and transgender students and student-athletes (especially if Schroer is upheld on appeal, if there is one, or if it is cited favorably by other courts). For example, a plaintiff like Jennifer Harris, who had alleged that she was kicked off the Penn State basketball team for essentially being too butch, could have included this case among others to support her argument that she was penalized for failing to conform to her coach's stereotypes about appropriate dress and behavior for women. Even more significantly, the novel second part of the decision could provide support to transgender students who might want to use Title IX to challenging discrimination in the designation of dorms, facilities (see, e.g.), sports teams, etc., that fail to accommodate them.

Quarterback Todd Wilkowski ’91 was on the 30-yard line Friday at Butterfield Stadium. He took the ball, dropped back and surveyed the field. He spotted one of his favorite targets, wide receiver Nick Ismailoff ’91, in the corner of the end zone. He fired off a bullet of a pass toward the open man. Ismailoff reeled the ball in, made sure both of his feet were in-bounds and then celebrated the touchdown with his quarterback.

It happened almos everyday. until his mate cannot take it and asked for transfer to another bed or smth.
the bed was left empty since then. Yeo was afraid larrs.
I remember watching incredible tales.
one of the army dude was floating above his bed which scared his mates as well.
They must open the third door in order for the spirit to leave his soul.
Even though I love horror shows. But I'm really afraid if I encountered those stuffs.
I'm thankful I'm not a guy who needa serve ns.
yeo also shared with us that inside army, there's bound to be those sua ku people.
during his batch 2 or 3 yrs back, the officer will asked them to report on time the next day.
This dude who was unsure what to wear when reporting asked his other friends what should I wear to report?
hahahah. of cos is uniform la.
But those friends sabotaged him by telling him, reporting must wear swimming trunk.
HAHAHAHHAHS!
the next day this poor dude did not wear uniform but swimming trunk. He did as told bythose friends :(
the officer was like.. WTH!

This guy namedJason went around telling others its his birthday. those army dudes tied him onto a stretcher.
put toothpastes around his lips area.help him wearG-string [from those FHM magazine]. drew on his face as well.
Thus he was like almos 2/3 naked. lol.
they lifted the stretcher and carried it all the way to their officer's main office and left it there. Those mischevious dudes then knocked on the door and went away.
HAHAHHAHA! and guess what happened next.........!
It was really funny la when yeo told us all his camp stories.
Those who got fooled by others might lead a sad life. those who played on others might think thtits fun.
But time really flies. I remember my neighbour who was serving ns 3 or 4 years back. he will always looked forward to the days he can book out. cuz he said army life is really a torture, if only he's a girl. Luckily you're a girl.

Every movement you make in the real world outside of the gym demands that your body work as a complete, inter-related unit. Your muscles and joints work together in chains, not as isolated, unrelated masses of tissue. In recent years ‘functional training’ has become the dominant paradigm in strength and conditioning because research and anecdotal evidence demonstrate that the best way to build a more fit, strong body is to tax it with complex movements that treat it as an interdependent system, not a sum of isolated parts.
The TRX is designed for functional training. Every movement on the TRX engages the entire body, builds strength, improves balance, and allows you to adjust resistance on the fly by simply changing the position of your hands or feet relative to the anchor. These same attributes make it a standout tool for building functional flexibility that directly corresponds to your fitness and training needs and the demands of daily life, not just the ability to grab your toes while you’re sitting on the floor.
“We’ve begun to understand that the result of an injury or a muscle being tight isn’t isolated. It affects several muscles because we move as a unit, not one muscle at a time. It’s a domino effect,” says Schell. “Fitness Anywhere’s approach to stretching and flexibility is similar to the approach we take to strength training. It’s more time efficient and makes more sense for the body.”
Now we’ve established an understanding of the principles underlying functional flexibility as showcased in the TRX Essentials:Flexibility DVD and Guide. The TRX Windmill stretch (showcased below) is an example of functional flexibility for golf. Next, we’ll explain how to safely implement a flexibility training program. Until then.

Backhand:
Simply put the Djokovic backhand is a thing of beauty. His grip on this stroke is continental off of both hands and his preparation is nice and early. Nadal by contrast has a western grip on his backhand stoke. Rafa pulls it off extremely well because A) he is really a right handed person, which allows for a lot of strength to be used is what is usually a persons not dominant side and B) his core strength is so solid that his balance is perfect throughout every backhand . Trying to use the Nadal model on the backhand side is also difficult because its very wristy and hard on the shoulders. Federer on the other hand has a very classic one-handed backhand. As we all sit there and marvel at his flick backhand passing shots trying to execute the very same thing is not very practical and rewarding.
Novaks simple technique brings the whole package together in a step by step easy model that can turn anyones backhand in a rally ending shot. What I admire about the Djokovic backhand is that it is a two piece stroke. There is the take back, (which is the first piece), very similar to a batters set up when hitting a baseball, and finally the second piece which is the follow through. Remember it is important to keep strokes fluent. It is evident with a lot of recreational players that their strokes are chopping and not smooth. Remember, healthy preparation leads to a rewarding finish. You will rarely see Novak hitting his backhand at different contact points. His balance and leg use is excellent and his ability to use his left hip into the rotation of the stroke is well executed. In the video below it is important to note that right before contact Djokovic has his body weight on his right foot. He has established his power source at this stage and is ready to fire through the ball.
I remember a great thought shared by Andre Agassi as discussed the backhand model while commentating the 2007 U.S. Open quarter-final between Roger Federer and Andy Roddick. Agassi, who was a master of the two handed backhand, brought up some fantastic points. He talked about how the best two handers in the world start with the racket head pointing upwards at the time of preparation. Again this is evident in the video below as Novak does just that.
Agassi went on from there to say that a strong right grip is needed as the racket head approaches contact. The left arm would then be used to bring the racquet around towards its follow through. If you look at Andy Roddicks backhand he does not do this. His racket head is always to the side of this body during preparation with the racquet head pointed horizontally instead of vertically. Andy has a weak right grip and ends up pushing a lot of his backhands because the left hand is doing most of the work.
