Sour Note: New York's famed Tin Pan Alley, where songwriting legends Irving Berlin, George Gershwin, Hoagy Carmichael and Johnny Mercer all once worked, is getting dangerously close to being bulldozed to make way for a new -- you guessed it -- high rise. From the 1890s to the 1950s, Tin Pan Alley was the place where music publishers and songwriters were concentrated. "This makes me sick," one longtime resident said. "This whole neighborhood has lost its uniqueness. It's just another symbol of what New York was and what it will no longer be.

As concern for the use of plastic bags increases, people are on the lookout for alternative replacements. Some are turning towards bags made of cloth.
But me, I would prefer to use the buyot anytime! I remember way back when I was a little girl, my mother (and according to her my lola too), used the native version when they make compra sa tiangge or mercado (wet market). When the supermarkets went in vogue, women stopped using the buyot and native baskets maybe because the supermarkets prefer to use plastic grocery bags to pack their purchases. However, I believe there are still a few who remained loyal and use these bags when buying in wet markets until now.
Between the native and the plastic buyot, I would rather choose the plastic one because it is sturdier and washable. It also lasts much longer, which translates in big savings since we do not need to buy replacements regularly.
So before those killer plastics will overrule our world, it is high time to think green and Go Buyot once more.

On Friday afternoon the 8th grade boys soccer team battled Francis Parker in their much anticipated rematch. The Maroons dictated the pace of play throughout the first half, pressing forward and winning free balls with great determination. Lucas Buchheim-Jurisson scored with a beautiful header to give the Maroons a 1-0 at the half. Parker scored two quick goals midway through the second half, but the Maroons did not let up, with several dramatic defensive stands and a late flurry of offensive chances that had Parker on their heels. Despite several strong shots on goal, the Maroons were unable to find the net, and Parker escaped with the win. The Maroons played some of their best soccer of the year and can be proud of their effort in this game. Look for the team to rebound at home in another big match this Tuesday when they play Latin at 4:30 pm on Jackman Field. Thanks to all of the family, friends, and fans who came out to cheer the team on.

Up until very recently, we had plans to begin selling the iStockaudio collection this fall, but due to site maintenance more Up until very recently, we had plans to begin selling the iStockaudio collection this fall, but due to site maintenance taking longer than expected, we’re delaying launch until 2009. We’ve been making tweaks to the audio landing page and functionality since ingestion began, but we want to make sure all our plans take off without a hitch.
Large increases in membership and traffic have necessitated the addition of another high-capacity data center. We’re also migrating the site to the more advanced PHP 5, improving the scalability of the site, and streamlining the user interface in many areas (more to come, so stay tuned). As you can imagine, making these changes to a site as large, complex and busy as iStock is a little like changing a spark plug in your car while doing 60 on the freeway: it’s doable, but you better be damn careful while you’re at it. Things have gone very well so far and you shouldn’t have noticed anything, but it means that a few features had to be pushed out.
More customers downloading more files is something we're happy to contend with, and the site maintenance and improvements we're making this season will help streamline and pave the way for a smooth rockin' iStockaudio launch next year.
iStockaudio is an incredibly important piece of the world's leading stock destination that is iStockphoto. Customers are increasingly preparing multimedia projects requiring images, videos and audio. With more than 260,000 seconds of audio, more than 7,000 tracks added by 528 contributors, iStockaudio is well on its way as a strong collection but there are a few things we could use. We've got lots of musical compositions and we welcome more, but we could really use more sound effects. You know, the brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrings, waaaaaaa-waaaaaaas, aaaawww-awwwww, badda-bing-cling-bammms and na-na-na-na-boo-boos and general ambient, isolated sounds.
Thanks to all the diligent audio contributors and to our customers patiently waiting to blend iStockaudio with their creations. Until the new year.

On Wednesday, October 1, Gabbie Clark continued her season-long unbeaten streak with a dramatic upset win over last years Girls State Singles Tennis Champion, Elizabeth Epstein from Francis Parker. The 7-6 (7-5), 2-6, 6-2 victory was Gabbies first win over Epstein and probably the biggest win of her three year career at U-High.
The ISL contest was played under difficult conditionson her opponents home courts, in a heavy wind, and on poorly lit courts after darkness fell. But it was played at a high level from the outset, and virtually every game was a series of long baseline rallies that more often ended in a winner than an opponents error.
Nothing seemed to faze Gabbie in this match, and her determination and will to win were unstoppable. She was down a break in the first set and came back to win it in a very close tiebreak. Her game dropped a little in the second set and Gabbie lost the set 2-6. But despite being down an early break in the final set, Gabbie roared back to take the set decisively at 6-2. Gabbies solid defense, superior foot speed, and power from the baseline all combined to wear Epstein down, and eventually resulted in the well-deserved victory.
The Girls Team defeated Parker 4-1 overall. Margot Turek lost at second singles, 0-6, 0-6; Sofia Iatarola and Rachel Sylora won at first doubles, 6-3, 6-3; Leah Sibener and Leslie Sibener won at second doubles, 6-4, 6-2; and Liz Abello and Maggie Carton won at third doubles, 6-2, 6-7 (6-8), 6-3.

Hehe. I get to inject myself with one every day.
Let me explain.
My "Desert Mom," DJ, has introduced me to hCG injections. There's a clinic in Mesa, Medshape, (I will now supply website, so you can see for yourself http://medshapeweightloss.com/ )which specializes in hCG.
Now, let me explain hCG. Human chorionic gonadotropin is a glycoprotein hormone that's released during pregnancy. These weight loss clinics have found a way to increase one's metabolism using this. And so, for six weeks, my job is to follow a strict all protein and veggie with one carb per day diet in order to get this sucker going. I inject myself every morning with 2.5 whatevers of hCG and also do circuit training.
Now, let me explain circuit training, or as it's more clinically explained, the Tabata Protocol. It's a 4-6 minute workout that has proven to be just as beneficial as a 45 minute walk. First, you warm up for about 1-2 minutes, walking at a moderate pace. Then, you sprint for 20 seconds, as hard as you can. You rest for 10 seconds. Then, sprint again for 20 seconds, rest for 10. Repeat this until you've done a total of 8 30 second sets. This will seriously boost one's metabolism.
So, mix the Tabata protocol with daily hCG injections and a protein diet to keep my muscles from atrophying, you can safely say that I am going to lose a lot of weight. They say the average person who follows this diet effectively will lose 45 lbs in six weeks. I have several advantages that might help me lose more.
1. the average person on this program is a lot older than I am. My metabolism still works faster than older women, I just don't boost it much.
2. I also incorporate tennis in my weekly workout, not only with my husband, but also with several of the kids I work with. Extra metabolism boost right there.
This is a safe, effective way to change my lifestyle. I mean, the Kelli who normally eats McDonalds breakfasts and adores chocolate has eaten an egg white and spinach omelet and half of a boneless skinless chicken breast today. I get to use whatever dry rubs and seasonings I want, as long as oil and butter aren't involved, and I get to eat alllll day long. As a meat lover, I find nothing wrong with this plan.
My only downfalls will be soda and chocolate, but I've noticed something. As soon as I started injecting myself with hCG, my craving for chocolate completely left me. I tried eating some chocolate lava cake with my West Coast dad, Mark yesterday, and couldn't eat past three bites. Maybe hCG is what controls your appetite and cravings? I don't know. So soda's really the only thing, and I actually discovered sparkling water has NO sugar OR calories, so if I need a carbonation boost, I might drink that. It's not really the caffeine I thrive on, it's the carbonation. I love that bubbly feel.
So, why am I doing this, you ask? I've heard so many people say "Kelli, you're so pretty, you look fine the way you are." And I say no to that. Thanks for the compliment, but I am morbidly obese and this is a Godsend. I have a big audition coming up near the end of November, and if I stick to this plan, I can lose anywhere from 60 to 80 lbs in that time. Guaranteed. It's time for me to return to the Kelli I used to be--before college, before desk jobs and before Needles, CA. (I gained most of my weight there). I want that peppy, upbeat girl back and I want to be Tigger again.
AND I don't want my weight being an excuse for agents to not look at me.
So, therefore, I press on. Not that I'm complaining...I got an omelet and chicken for breakfast and I'm grilling some tilapia later. Can't complain about that! And when I notice the pounds drop and my old clothes fit? Yeah. That's a good enough incentive to stay on this diet.
Okay, that is all. Thanks for reading.

It's easy to muse over certain things, the same things as everyone else. Once a month I get my subscription to Teen Vogue. Plus I have been steadily reading each issue since 2003 when it came out. I was only twenty then, just out of my "teens" and it didn't feel odd to be reading a magazine geared towards a younger population.
But now I'm 25, and at one point the other day, it all felt so weird. To be blogging along side girls half my age sometimes with tons of effortless style. Perhaps because I never found myself stylish in my teens, it was still common to have your parents dress you. I feel like that's something of the past, even though it was not that long ago. It was only until I left for college that I felt myself liberated to dress the way I wanted to and with the money to do so. Then again, there was no internet blogging phenomenon at that time either to see what was fashionable around the world. I was limited to what was around me and what I could afford. Now, the world is at your fingertips with internet shopping.
Then I see these Teen Vogue It Girls of the week, and it makes me a tiny bit jealous that I will never be able to participate. Quickly redeemed by my freedom of not being a teenager. Then to see some bloggers leaving for college or ranting about the trivialness of being in high school, while I contemplate when to begin my masters and when to make my next move - it puts everything into perspective. This is NOT a teen blog, but I will take as much as I can and want to from their styles while maintaining my own. I wasn't a teen when I started this blog, and I'll never get any closer.

Hola Hello all,
my lj page is in spanish! and the keyboard is a bit sticky so please forgive the spelling mistakes, i dont have time to correct them!
Well, we are about half way through the tour and we have seen and done so much that its hard to pick out the highlights, but i will try.
Lima is a typicle colonial city, but this is where I had my first taste of guinea pig, a trad dish here. Quite nice though my Mother wont be impressed as we used to have them as pets when i was a child! The prawn and veg soup was delicious though!
What is very striking about Peru is the poverty, even in the big towns. People live in hovels and one storey buildings that look awful. Pisco was particularly bad as it had an earthquake last Sep. I saw an area, completely flattened, where there would have been a few houses, with a small wooden cross set in the middle. It makes you grateful for what you have. However, the people are always smiling and seem happy.
I enjoyed the sand buggy in Ica though it was quite scary. Mr Roxy did the sand boarding but i declined!
Flying over the Nasca lines was amazing and i managed not to get sick although 2 in our plane did!
Next hightlight has to be seeing the condors flying in Colca Canyon! Absolutely fanastic. Because we were at about 3800m high the birds are flying at the same level. One of them flew by me about 2 feet away, i could hear the wind in its wings. Here in the Colca valley we all experienced some of the effects of the altitude, headaches, nausea and tiredness.
Last night we stayed in someones house on Amantani island on Lake titicaca. What an experience! The people here speak quechuan and a little spanish. We dressed up in the local costume and did some dancing last night. The people are just lovely, quietly spoken, and always smiling.
Today we visited the Uros people who live on floating islands.Tomorrow on to Susco and Inca trail on Friday.
Its interesting that it was me that was a little anxious about the altitude but it appears that mr roxy is experiencing more diffculty.
better go, hope you are all well.

your fantasy, Average American Male? You know, to fuck some girl with your buddy but to spend most of the time trying to concentrate on the female and avoid any eye contact with your pal?
Okay maybe there are some male fantasies out there that capture this (we humans, especially guys, seem capable of fantasizing about anything – cows, screwdrivers, fudge sundaes, tennis balls, anything) but I’m guessing this isn’t common.
All I want to do is watch two people fuck, a guy and a girl, together, alone, without some third wheel, jack off and go to sleep!! Is this too much to ask?
Apparently so where mainstream pornography is concerned. This is another reason why amateur porn is on the rise and taking a huge chunk out of the mainstream porn biz.
“The porn business is at a crossroads again,” says Frank. “We have to decide which way to go – more intense or more ‘mainstream’. I think we’ve reached just about as far as we can go, intensity-wise, unless you want to get into rape fantasies. But ‘mainstream’ isn’t really our thing, either. But I do acknowledge that the Amateur subgenre is becoming more-and-more popular, and acceptable to both watch and film. “
Why?
“Because technology has become affordable enough for real, ‘normal’ everyday couples to film their own shit and much of it can look as good as ‘the pros’! It’s more realistic, too. I think we in the porn biz have to do a better job of presenting fantasy and entertainment better because we simply can’t compete with ‘real sex’. Nor should we.”
What’s your opinion.

Send in the clowns!!! I really have to laugh at the Presidential election this year as it is one of the most screwed up election I have witnessed. By the actions of the media you would think it a horrible thing for a woman, and a mother at that, to even consider running for an office, what, with children,? What about a man as a father, I guess that is acceptable and nothing to take in consideration that his duties as a father might be interrupted or are they saying a father isnt as important as a mother????
Lets think back to when Bobby Kennedy was a father of 9-10 and running for President. I guess it doesnt matter how many children a man has to be responsible for to run for the office but let a woman run and my God she is choosing politics over her family.
Has anyone noticed how many women commentators and anchors there are and you know what they have children too but lets not point to the media its the medias job to point to everyone else. I particulary notice that Fox News has many segments with women anchors and also send women out in the fields to report on stories, tropical storms and hurricanes. Are they considered a bad parent because of their occupation?????
I personally am sick of hearing about Sarah Palin and the fact that she is a mother and one with a special needs child. Does that make her any less capable of doing a good job as VP. I have seen quite a few VPs who have done absolutely nothing. I want to see an election that speaks to a platform of intentions I dont want to hear a candidate say if Im elected I will do this or that as they dont always have the last word. Show me a candidate who says if Im elected I will TRY and not I will. To me that makes more sense and Id vote for that one in a heart beat.
Lets have an election not based on sex or race but based on what they will try to do for us, especially the middle and lower class plus senior citizens as they get the brunt of it. As a senior citizen myself I see medicare being reduced each year and health benefits are almost zero. Health benefits are for the rich and the big boys on the hill who dont have to pay for any and have the sky as the limit on their medical care. Im sure not a one of them has to worry each month as to whether they eat or spend their medicare benefits on prescription drugs.
OK, I have vented and could go on and on but for my sake and yours Im going to end it here. If anyone would like to share their thoughts Id like to hear from you..

I love to read blogs. I love it, love it! There are so many to choose from out there. So many that fill me up with ideas, new perspective, remind me of Gods love and wisdom, parenting advice, laughter, tears, etc. Days when I'm feeling completely spent..I click on a few blogs in blogland and amazingly I feel revived, full of new ideas and thoughts. Being a stay at home mom I sometimes miss not being out in the world interacting with adults. The lovely blogs in blogland have helped to fill that void and for that I am so thankful. So, anyway, to my fellow bloggers out there..Thank you so much!! You're a gift from God and I appreciate the time you spend sharing and posting your thoughts.

Im an adoption recruiter, which basically means I help find families for hard to place children in the foster care system. My job is so much more than a job to me- it is my passion. Yes, it can get stressful and the concept of not bringing my work home with me is foreign to me but I love it. Whenever I tell people about what I do their first reaction is usually Wow you must see and hear about some pretty horrible stuff! I dont know how I could do that job. Yes, I do hear and see some pretty horrible stuff that no child should ever have to experience but more than that I have the privilege of working with the most amazing and resilient children!
I think the majority of people have a skewed idea of what a foster child is. A recent study by the Dave Thomas Foundation showed that the majority of people erroneously believe children enter the foster care system due to juvenile delinquency. False, False, False! Children enter the foster care system through no fault of their own and because they were victims of abuse or neglect. Let me tell you a little bit about what a foster child is from my 6 years of experience. A foster child is simply a child who wants to be loved and wanted. I currently work with mainly teenagers and it is difficult to watch them lose hope and to hear them say that no one wants them. Another common comment I get is Teenagers need families? Yes, teenagers need and desire forever families. Think about how many times you have called your parents from the time you turned 18 until now. Im 26 and I still very much need my parents.
The children that I have worked with have completely changed my perspective on life and have made me a better person. One of the kiddos I work with recently with made me a Best Caseworker Certificate and that paper covered in crayon is more valuable to me than any diploma hanging on my wall.
You can contact The Dave Thomas Foundation for more information on the adoption process. You can also browse some amazing portraits of just a handful of children in the Central Texas area waiting for forever families in the Heart Gallery of Central Texas (click on "portraits").
I'll leave you with a music video about adoption by country singer Wayne Warner in collaboration with the Dave Thomas Foundation and The Heart Gallery. Break out the tissue.

Pink cap shading her eyes from the glare of the sun, her long hair tumbling down over her shoulders and the uplift of her full breasts, Jenny Lee picks at the branches hanging low above her. Her brief pink top is transparent, and as her hair falls from them the ripe buds of her breasts press against the fabric. Jenny smiles and with a half turn slips thumbs into her shorts, pulling them down over her waist, revealing thong panties that accentuate her lavish ass. Jenny pulls at her top until her breasts spring free, their full shapes standing proud in the sunlight. Then with a warm smile she slips out of her panties to reveal a neatly shaved bush. Sinking to the lush green grass Jenny spreads her pussy, waiting expectantly on her knees.

K1 is sweetly cleaning the dirt/fingerprints/smudges, etc. off the all the doors.
It's amazing how grimy they can get. Our doors were starting to look pretty bad. Now thanks to K1 and a magic eraser sponge they are all nice a white again. Also, you can see my magazine piles. I'm taking them to the nursing home this afternoon. I love magazines, but we have way too many sitting around.
