That’s the expression right? Or is it stupid people? Either way, I can certainly relate. During the past 2 weeks I have been getting my money in good a lot and getting called by donkeys and losing a fair bit. If youre like me when you hear people say stuff like that you wonder how accurate and honest they are being so Ill give you 2 examples that happened in the same night online.
During the first example I was playing a 10 cent 20 cent cash game at a table that was mostly playing tight with one loose player who limped into most pots and had shown a couple of big bluffs. I was playing a variation of a short stack strategy and had built up to $12.50 from the $5 I sat down with and was debating leaving the table when I was dealt KK one off the button. By the time the action got to me there were 3 players in the pot for .60 or a total of $1.80 with both blinds to play so there were some good implied odds as well but I decided to raise to $1.80 to weed things out a little .. This was going to be my last hand anyway; I think its because I had been playing a tight SSS that only one player called my raise, the loose bluffer. The flop turned over 5H 10H QS The bluffer checked it to me and I decided there was enough money in the pot and I didnt want to let him hit a big card for free to I put the rest of my $12.50 into the pot and he called with . 2H 4H he hit a heart on the turn for his flush, one of my Ks was a heart so a heart on the river would have given me the better flush but the river drew a blank. So, buddy was willing to put $12.50 into a pot that was raised before the flop by a tight player with 2 4 suited before he hit his flush. How do you play against that?
Right after this tournament I moved to another site and played in a $5 6 player tournament and made it to the bubble. When I get to three handed poker later in a tournament I have a rule that generally works well for me regardless of chip count, table image etc. My rule three handed is that if I like my hand enough to play it I raise it and if I dont like my hand enough to raise I dont play it. Both of the other players were playing pretty tight and there werent too many outlandish bets or anything. During the hand in question I picked up KK (oh shit, I just had this hand busted at the last table) so I decide to pop them all in and take down the blinds right now, fold fold would have made me the chip leader so I didnt mind not building a pot here and I also didnt mind if I got called weak, which I did. My one caller turned over K 9 BECAUSE EVERYBODY KNOWS YOU CANT FOLD K9 TO AN ALL IN WHEN YOU ARE ONE SPOT WAY FROM MAKING THE MONEY, RIGHT? Flop, 9 7 9 turn and river drew blanks and Im done.
I am not kidding you when I say that I have been getting called weak (A LOT) lately and my hands have not been holding up but thats poker sometimes. Heres something I figured out during this run. As you get better you will be getting your money in with the best hand more and more often, some of those hands will get called and sometimes the donkey will hit what he needs to beat you. But, if thats what they mean when they say t play smart against stupid players then I have to disagree, keep playing smart, keep getting your money in ahead and youll make money even if the poker gods smack you upside the head every now and again.

Today, well be interviewing peerless67, who runs one of the larger forums on lefora, ClubPokerForum. The topic of their community is online poker, with hundreds of members participating across tens of thousands of posts.

First off, do you you have 3 simple tips you could offer for running an active forum?

How did you go about first promoting your forum?
Adding the link to my profile on the sites I play poker (as it is a poker forum)
Do you still need to promote your forum, or does it grow on its own?
We still promote it but word gets out and many have joined through other members. In 4 months we have managed to sign up over 460 members.
What are some of the reasons you originally choose lefora over another forum package?
Honestly the forum was free and easy to set up and use.
Lefora strives to block spam on our forums. How have your experiences been with spammers on your forum?
We have had no problems that I am aware of.
Have you had problems with trolls or inappropriate members on your forum? If so, how did you manage their behavior?
We have had a couple of incidents, nothing major and simply deleted the offending material.
Anything else you would like to comment on?
Lefora has been great, the staff have always responded to questions promptly and have always been willing to help in anyway they can. Many new features have been added in the 4 months my forum has been running and if the improvements continue Lefora will be a world beater.

Vincent s (lefora) Comments: peerless points out that advertising is the best way to keep a forum active. As he later stated, advertising can just include linking to your forum from your profile on other websites. It doesnt have to be paid advertising. You can ask your members to link to your forum as well from other websites they participate in. Anything from other forums, to blogs, to social networks.
Later in the year, well be introducing widgets that will allow your members to promote your forum for you.

All depositing players will be moved over first, then the rest of the players with funds will be moved. There have been reports that some players will not be paid if you have been posting all over the internet that at G2G you will never get your funds or sending threatening emails to G2Gpoker.  I can understand why you might not get paid. G2Gpoker is not transferring your money that you had on the DGS network.  The owner is taking funds out of his own pockets and doing player to player transfers. This is the main reason it will take time for everyone to get paid. The owner has been working non stop since the DGS network went down setting up the new site and transferring players their money. Once again, I have to applaud G2Gpoker for all the hard work they have done in the past few days. Some want to bash the site for having to move twice because the network they were on stole from them or closed, yet G2GPOKER is the first site on the DGS network to begin to transfer players their money. Some members have already reposted getting their funds please be patient and give them 2 weeks to move you if you do not hear from them by then, please contact me.
If you didnt have G2Gpoker before please wait to sign up, as we will be having specials for our members that set up accounts at G2G listed soon.
One other site that was on DGS was BJO (Big Juicy Odds) announced they were moving to Dobrosoft.  The network is actually the Gold Chip Network. BJO, up until last night, still had a link to download the DGS poker software. I  emailed them about this last night, and when I checked the site today the download link was no longer on the site. I did check both networks while writing this email and the Merge network had over 4000 players on line. The Gold chip network had just under 1000. I hope your money was on G2G because, they are already live on the new network, and are on a network that has more action. I also hope that you took a screen shot of your funds so that if anything is not right you have verification.
Now on to DGS, players have contacted me about seeing their funds listed as a withdraw to 900pay2 or listed as a player to player transfer. This is not the site moving your funds.  The owners of the poker sites lost all backend control about a week ago. I am aware that several people are in contact with DGS trying to purchase the network and or software. In my opinion, this is DGS moving funds out of players accounts so that if the software is sold nobody will have any cash in their accounts. I did contact Navaho Networks Inc., which does own 900pay and ewalletxpress, and they have told me that withdraws listed at DGS as 900pay2 have nothing to do with their site. There is no way to process a cash out using 900pay. 900pay is a way to add funds that are billed to your phone bill, and there is no way to pay a player that way.
I am sorry to any player that lost money due to the DGS network closing. This was also not due to anyone site on the network.  Almost every site owner I have talked to was also owed money from DGS. Some of the poker sites had been on DGN, which is another network known for not paying players.  They did have the rights to use Dobrosoft software and did not make the payments to Dobrosoft so, there is now the Gold chip network. Please do not hold this against the poker sites that used the network if they do reopen on another network. I know of several sites that have moved more than any of these sites and are going well on the new networks they have chosen. Some affiliate reps from the DGS network have also moved.  The rep from Wingows is now with Ironduke (which is also on the merge network), and have been for about a year now. Colin has worked with us in the past and has always tried very hard to make players happy.
